enough it seems but a week since we
left home, and twill be a very short time
before I shall welcome you. Endeavor to
keep my mind off that period as much
as possible for it takes the mind from
the studies. But I shall rejoice when
the last day of the term comes, not because
I am tired of studying though for I feel as
though I had just begun. In my studies
am getting along finely, am not the poorest
nor the best scholar in the class. Have
taken up Arithmetic and thus have enough
to do. We have a fine taecher. Byers, by
name, a perfect gentleman, and very
kind, and willing to help. He was at
Harvard while Uncle Edwin was, expect the
first year - The weather is quite warm and
seems much like Spring, snow nearly gone
and quite muddy. My health is very good
and am enjoying myself nicely. But the
best day I have is the sabbath; Saturday
night is always welcome. What should we do
if it were not for the sabbath, the day of rest?
