Monday 1. [?]

My dear Son,

How can Mother
get along without you?

It seems impossible, but
I would school my heart
to bear one separation, keeping
that by your fidelity to duty,
your respect and obedience
to all your Teachers, your
earnest endeavors in all
things to do right, and your
stern determination to live
a pure life, you will in after
years, [commend?] me for all
my trials and self denial.
If I awaken at night, my
first thought is, where's my
boy, by whom influenced,
by what or [?]?
and I like awake to think, or
rise to pray for you.
