the Society, shall not be loaned to persons not members of the Society. Resolved, That members to whom papers are loaned shall be considered as responsible for them, so long as they continue in their possession. Resolved, That the Essayists`s now out, be returned at the next meeting.
("Ward's His of Hindoos", having been presented by Mr. Phillips, (a mem. of the doc.) to the Library, it was Resolved, That the thanks of the Society be presented to Mr. Phillips for his kind presents. Resolved, That the books which were excluded from the Library as improper, (viz. Campbell's Journey, and Guy Mannering)_ be burnt. [added in pencil]honorbly doctu !!
April 7 After the usual performances. Resolved, That the vote respecting the burning of Guy Mannering (a novel), be reconsidered. Resolved That the vote at the last meeting be carried into execution by Mr. Callaghan immediately
April 14. Performances as usual, and ajourned.
[April] 21 Performed as usual, and Resolved, That the vote respecting critisisms [sic] of compositions be altered so as to read thus:

"That compositions be loaned to those appointed to critisise [sic] them, which critisism shall be presented the next regular meeting after the composition is read".
April 28. Performances as usual. Adjourned.
May 5. After the usual performances, it was Resolved, that Messrs. True, Gardner, & Randall be admitted as members.
[May] 12. Met for the choice of officers and elected Samuel Wilson President, Ebenezer Buzzell V. President, Henry Callahan Librarian, Wilson Ingalls and Frederick Dean as a committee of nomination and Wilson Ingalls to take care of the lamps, ring the bell &c. Voted that the meetings in future commence at half past seven. Resolved that the thanks of the Society be rendered to Mr Phillipos for 3 volumes of the history of Rhome presented by him to the society.
June 10. After the usual performances resolved that Messrs. Warren, Makepeace and Abbott be received as members of the Society. Voted that the meeting commence at a quarter

June 16th Met and performed as usual and attended to business. Resolved that Messrs Boutell, Foster and Stuart be invited to join the Society.
[June] 25th Met and performed as usual, also resolve that the thanks of the Society be given to Mr Phillips for two books presented by him to the Society.

July 7th Met and performed as usual, also voted that Mr Caleb Warner be invited to join the Society and dissolved the meeting.

[July] 21st Met and performed as usual after the performances voted to dismiss Messrs Sweetser, Nichols, Callahan, Banister, Oviatt, Benjamin Coolidge, and Thomas Coolidge. also voted to recieve [sic] Messrs. Also voted that a box be purchased for the purpose of recieving [sic] all anonymous communications. Also that the Social Fraternity be invited to visit the Philo-mathean next Wednesday evening and adjourned & Adt. E Buzzell Sec.
August 4th. Met according to appointment and performed as usual. The members of the Social Fraternity where [sic] present and after the Exercise an address was made to the Society by Mr. Butler and adjourned. Att. E Buzzell Sec.

Sept 8th Met according to appointment, and preformed [sic] as usual, also voted to recieve [sic] Messrs Eaton, Bloor, Foster, Parkard, Cooley, and Rine as members of the Society.
[Sept] 15th Met and preformed [sic] as usual, voted that the communications from the box should be read upon the stage; voted to dismiss Messrs Searls with a vote of thanks. Voted that the meetings in future to commence at seven. Voted that the essayest and journal of health be discontinued and that the committee of the publications should see to being the buisness [sic] and expences paid from the fund likewise voted that the journal of health should be bound and that the essayest should not.
