Last pair of buffalo captured about 6 mi. So. of Englevale. The cow & calf captured [?] kept for over a year Photo of the two copied. The bull was shot a few months later 1888. Thos Darbin lived at Englevale and mounted the head of the cow. The town was at that time called Marshall. The cow was caught by [?] and tethered out on his farm. See - 18. 133-57. Harry Oliver - Lisbon Burt Breed Had part in capture. Near depot - - (illegible/Vinkle?) house, Oakes is mounted head of bull. Vinkle still alive. Tho. Darbin had the head of the cow in his collection. Over 300 more in the hunt of the bull out of Oakes.
