Native Mounted Police Barracks Euleutha 31st March 1863
Sir I have the honor to forward the enclosed letter from Doctor Swift, which reached me this day, reporting on the health of 2nd. Lieutenant Moorhead, who has been laid up since the 1st ultimo [Text underlined from 'who does not' until the end of the sentence] and who does not - I believe intend [Note in margin: 'x'] to resume his duties.
I am compelled to send Mr Cadet Armstrong from here to relieve Mr Moorhead on the Maranoa River. I beg to call your attention to the necessity of detaching one or two officers of some little experience to this Division, as the rapid increase of population in the Warrego West Maranoa District, will obblige [sic] me to send a section there immediately.
The Commandant of the Native Mounted Police Head Quarters Rockhampton
