restored, and if there is any appointment
under your Government that you might
be induced to suppose me capable of
filling, were it offered, I would most
thankfully accpet it. To that end. I
beg to submit to your favorable notice
the following recapituatlion of my services.
From January 1856 to February 1868, as
Sub Lieutenant, 2nd Lieutenant & Lieutenant
in the Native Police.
From February 1861 til the latter date
connected with G. E. Dalrymple Esq'r on the
Bowen Bench, and from the occasional
absence of that gentleman, and also of
J. Leith Hay Esq'r having had to transact
the whole of the Police Court work myself
which was very considerable for so young
a place; and lastly that with the
above duties, from June 1862 til I left
the service, I had been ordered by my
superior officer Mr Commissioner Dalrymple
to undertake and perform the responsibilities
and duties of Acting Harbour master & ***
Pilot at Port Denison.
I believe I can safely say that the
whole of the above services, were timely and
conscientiously performed by me to the
extent of my ability, and I am therefore
emboldered to solicit an appointment
to any vacancy that may occur to the
northward either as Police Magistrate, or
as Water Police Magistrate, Harbour Master &c
at any new port or place in that direction.
With reference to my having undertaken
the duties of Harbour Master &c at Port Denison
that arose from the fact that Mr G. E. Dalrymple
