[written at top] Commissioner of Police Recommending payment of 10 pounds to detective Hitchens of Gympie

69/29

Police Department

Brisbane 4th February 1869

Sir

I have the honor to recommend that the sum of ten pounds be granted from "The Police Reward Fund" to Detective Constable Mr Fred'k Hitchens who was stationed for some time at Gympie and through whom the capture of the man "Bond" who stopped the mail coach near Gympie, was effected. As the pay of the detectives is small and they are obliged to pay for the information they obtain it is necessary to reimburse them in some way when the information they get is valuable.

I have the honor tobe Sir Your most Obedient Servant D.T. Seymour C.P.

The Hon The Colonial Secretary
