The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

A Statement from the office of the Provincial Secretary
was read showing the fees imposed by Statute upon
Licenses to be issued in 1886. 1887. - Referred to the Committee
on Licenses

A Communication from Mr A P Knight acting Secretary
Collegiate Institute was read asking for a sum
to pay salaries - Referred to the Committee on Finance &c

A Communication from William H. Sullivan
Esquire was read asking for the interest charged on the
Separate School Taxes paid each year after the 1st Oct.
Referred to the Finance Committee.

A Communication from Wm. S Gordon City Comr
was read enclosing one from W. A Asher Re Transient
Traders License

On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Dunn

Ordered, That the City Commissioner be instructed
to proceed forthwith and enact the full auctioneers and
transient traders license fee from the party Asher

A Communication from W. S. Gordon, City Commissioner
was read Re erection of Brick Veneered Buildings
Referred to the Committee On Fire Water and Gas

Aldn Wilson brought up the petition of Patrick Clark
in reference to Hall Rent. Referenced to the Committee on
City Property.

Ald. Little brought up the petition of Andrew Rankin
respecting drain - Referred to the Committee on Streets &c

Ald. O'Brien and Harty brought up the petitions of
Patrick Killeen Jr. and John O'Donnell respecting Taxes
Referred to the Court of Revision

Ald. Clemants from the Committee on Finance and Accounts
brought up a Report (Number 404 Book E) which was read
and adopted. The Report of the Auditors was read

On motion of Ald. Thompson seconded by Ald. Harty

Ordered, That the City Clerk be instructed
to write to the Chairman of the Public School Board calling
attention to that [strikethrough] part [/strikethrough] portion of the Auditors Report
with reference to payment of fees by non-resident
pupils and which have not been paid owed

On motion of Ald. Thompson seconded by Ald. Eilbeck

Ordered, That the Auditors report be printed in
the usual way and distribute to the Tax payers.

The Resignation of Ald. Cornelius Bermingham was
read.

On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Hobart

Ordered, that the resignation of Ald. Bermingham
be accepted and that His Worship the Mayor be requested
to take the necessary proceedings to have the vacancy
filled; this Council do desire to record its regret
that a gentleman of the undoubted capacity of
Ald.
