On motion of Alderman Thompson seconded by Alderman Rees
Ordered, that the Collector of Taxes is hereby authorized
to remit of the percentages which may become payable for
default in the payment of taxes under the By Law in
that behalf in the month of November and the months following
one percent on the taxes so in default of such percentages
so that such percentages shall be calculated as if they had
begun to be payable on the 2nd day of November 1887 instead
of the second day of October 1887.

On motion of Alderman Redden seconded by Alderman Rees
Ordered, that the sum appropriated in the
budget passed August 25th 1887 be placed to the credit
of the Midland Central Fair the amount to be the same as
County Council not exceeding $300.

Communications were read and referred as follows:
From the Gas Works Co. stating supply of gas has been
cut off from the street lamps.

From E.H. Stobart Secretary Fire Department asking
for the use of City Hall for assembly on the 31st instant
Granted.

From the Reverend J.K. McMorine asking for a remission of
rent of City Hall re Entertainment Indian Children.
Referred to the Committee on City Property.

From J.McCaull stating that Mrs. Christmas got
her arm broken while on the Board Walk Wellington Street
near the Park through a defect in the same and asking the
Council to consider it. Referred to the Committee on Streets.

From L.S. Phippin Secretary Public School Board
re advice of City Solicitor to School Board. Referred
to the Committee on Finance.

From Samuel H. Fee and John H. Caldback asking
third street to be sold lyhing between Upper Colbourne and
Elm Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets.

From H.J. Irwin D.A.G. asking for a crossing from
Barrack Street to the Artillery Park. Referred to the
Committee on Streets.

From George Hazlett asking for the office of
Mechanical Engineers.

From John McIntyre Esquire re judgement against
the street railway for damages occasioned by the track..

On motion of Alderman McIntyre seconded by Alderman Snowden
Ordered that the communication of J. McIntyre be
referred to the City Solicitor to report what action is to be
taken to secure the City's interest in view of the declared
inability of the street railway to pay any judgement
recovered against it in the Courts and further if the amount
due by the street railway for repair done by the City has
not been paid.

From the Public School Board asking for a six foot
walk on Sydenham Street in front of the new central school.
Referred.
