A special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen

Carson, Curtis, Elliott, Gaskin, Hardy, Horn, Martin, Meek,
Mundell, McKelvey, Richardson, Skinner, Walkem, Wright.

The Mayor stated the meeting was called to take up general business.

The Clerk read communications as summarized.

From Board of Commissioners of Police - Re duties of City Commissioner
and of Board of Health - Referred to Finance Committee.

From N.F. Dupuis, Chairman, Board of Trustees Collegiate Institute, for
advance of $2000, for settling up &c - Referred to the Committee on Finance.

From George Thompson Collector of Taxes - Taxes collected to date May 2nd 1894.
Referred to Committee on Finance.

From the Education Department - Appointment - Legislative Public
& Separate School Grant for 1894 &c. Referred to the Committee on Finance.

From Richard J. Walkem, Chairman Local Board of Health Re renting
Military Hospital for three months as small Pox Hospital - Fyled.

From George Thompson, Collector of Taxes. Taxes received to date - June 11th 1894.
Referred to Committee on Finance.

From Revd H. M. Baum asking for remission of rent of City Hall -
Referred to Committee on City Property.

From W.S. Gordon enclosing letter of H.J. Wilkinson. Re Transient
Traders License.

On motion of Ald Hardy seconded by Ald Gaskin.

Ordered That the By Law be carried out.

From Thomas O'Brien and others respecting taxes - Referred to the Court
of Revision.

From P.E. Doolittle, thanking Council for the use of the City Hall.
Fyled.

From George Osborne asking for the establishment of a pound on part
lot 3 at the corner of Smith and North Bartlett Streets and the appointment of a
Pound Keeper - Frank Talbot - and suggesting the laying down of a Plank
Walk in front of his house - Referred to the Committee on City Property.

Petitions were presented and referred as follows: -

From John W. Crowley and 33 others Carters by Ald Meek asking for
a reduction in their License - Referred to the Committe on Finance &c.

From Isaac Wood and 3 others by Ald Curtis, asking permission
to have the board walk on the West Side of Johnson Street between Bagot and
Wellington Streets removed out.

On motion of Ald Curtis seconded by Ald Walkem.

Ordered That the prayer of the petition be granted.

From William Bassam and 31 others by Ald Horn asking for a
local improvement sewer on Collingwood Street - Referred to the Board of Works
and City Commissioner.

From N.J. Greenwood and 7 others by Ald Mundell asking
for the removal of the Board Walk on Union Street between University
Avenue and Alfred Street - Referred to Board of Works and City Engineer
