Ald: Walkem here left.

The Council went into Committee of the whole on the second reading
of the By Law to exempt from Municipal taxation the carriage factory
of John F. McDermott for ten years.

Ald: Donnelly in the Chair.

The Council resumed.

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the following
Copy of a resolution passed in Committee in Amendement.

On motion of Ald: Behan seconded by Ald: Martin.

Ordered, That the By Law be referred back to the Finance Committee
to report at a special meeting called for to consider such business in conformity
with the Solicitors opinion. - The Report was received.

Ald: Behan introduced A By Law to exempt from Municipal
taxation the carriage factory of James Laturney for ten years - which was read
a first time.

The 30th rule was suspended and the Council went into Committee
on the second reading.

Ald: Drennan in the Chair.

The Council resumed.

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second reading
of the By Law cost in Committee. The Report was received.

On motion of Ald: Carson seconded by Ald: Behan.

Ordered, that when the Finance Committee consider the By Law
granting exemption to John F. McDermott they bring in a By Law on the
terms for James Laturney.

Ald: Drennan introduced A By Law to partially exempt from
Municipal taxation William Bailey and Company's broom factory for five
years - which was read a first time. -

Ald: Behan introduced A By Law to partially exempt from
Municipal taxation the property of the Kingston Foundry and Machinery
Company (Limited) for five years - which was read a first time.

On motion the Council adjourned.

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was held
this day. Present,
Aldermen
Allen, Behan, Carson, Curtis, Donnelly, Drennan,
Hewton, Martin, Milne, Minnes, Newlands, Redden,
Robinson, Ryan, Skinner, Stewart, Strainge, Tait,
Walkem.

The Major of being absent, Ald: Robinson was appointed Chairman.

The Clerk read the Minutes of the last meeting.

Communications summarized by Clerk were read and referred as
follows: -
