second reading of the By Law clause by clause as amended

A Special Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day Present

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen
John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements, Craig, Creeggan
Downing, Dupuis, C.F. Gildersleeve, J.P. Gildersleeve
Gordon, Little, McCammon, McGuire, McIntyre
Quigley, Smythe

The Mayor stated he called the meeting owing to a letter
received from Mayor Larkin Saint Catherines in refernce to a
bill before Parliament abolishing Market Tolls

Memoranda of the City Solicitor In Re Market Fees Bill
was read

Also the Bill before the Ontario Legislature entitled "An Act
respecting Market Fees"

On motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: Smythe
Ordered, that His Worship the Mayor, Ex Mayor Pense
C.F. Gildersleeve, Ex Alderman Harty and the mover and R.J. Carson
be a delegation to proceed to Toronto from this Council to co-operate
with other Cities and Towns in the matter of the Act at present before
the Legislature of Ontario, with a view to oppose or have such act
modified

The Clerk read the petitions of the Council proposing Amendments
to the municipal and assessment acts

On motion of Ald: Smyth seconded by Ald: Carson
That the proposed amendments be referred to the
special committee on municipal Legislation to report at the next meeting
of the Council

In Amendment

Ald: J.P. Gildersleeve seconded by Ald: Creeggan

That in order to enable the members of this Council to examine
and properly understand the proposed municipal amendments just
read the Consideration thereof be postponed for at least one week
and
