melancholly relation respecting our worthy Brother we
proceed to state, that the KDC did at last assemble,
and headed by the President (who by the way looked now
much improved) proceeded up Princess Street, in this
fashionable "Locale" nothing worthy of notice occurred,
except indeed that the [underline] talking [/underline] member of some of our
loquacious Companions had nearly been lost to them by
coming into contact with their teeth as they jolted over
the ["Cahants"?] and which "by the way" a funny friend
remarked, would have been of no essential loss to them
and of vast benefit to their intimate companions
Our President after various turns, endeavoured to take
us in the direction of Kingston Mills, and, as if he had
not resided in this important City for a longer period
than a few months had asked a celebrated Rifleman to
act as guide, but it would appear from the
results that [underline] both [/underline] were equally ignorant of the Road
for [unproceding?] through an almost impassable field
we again found ourselves with our horses heads turned
towards Kingston, since writing the above the Vice has
to apologise to the President for a mistake he has been
guilty of. viz that he had imputed ignorance and want
of knowledge of the Country to him, whereas the fault
was entirely owing to his hard mouthed and unruly
steeds, who defying the Snaffles in which they were driven
had taken a homeward Route in spite of the efforts of
their driver, whom we must now for his driving
