"So them their horses faux pas, to attribute
"And draw conclusions without limit
"In such dull prose, as that within it,
"Had better take care what they're after
"or [ten?] to one they catch a [Garter?]"

The * poet having thus given in verse what the VP was
unable to do properly in "dull prose" the remainder of this
drive must be attended to. On nearing the Shoal tower, by
uplifted whips and hands, a halt was again proclaimed, and
the vice was again surprised at "Jenny [Jeany?]" being the cause of it. This
time she had taken a violent desire to visit the inmates of that
solid piece of masonry, but our president having gently persuaded
her not to trust [underline] her [/underline] person or [underline] his [/underline] sleigh on that fragile
and dangerous ladder, he succeeded in turning her to the right about,
and led us back to the Artillery Park where having formed line,
and the "Vice" for the ensuing week being named the club seperated -
Here the vice must apologise to his hearers, and hope that he
has not worn out their ears by recounting to them such [underline] stuff [/underline],
but as it is a rule of the club to write [underline] something, [/underline] [underline] something [/underline]
must be written - . And on this occasion, as [underline] nothing [/underline] worthy of
[underline] much [/underline] note occurred, for as even Lupus did not break a whip
over the flanks of his sturdy battery nag, nor did he capsize
his fair charge by attempting his accustomed feat of ascending
a snow drift with one runner, while the other was in the
track (N.B. if this had occurred, he would not thus easily have
escaped the censure of the V.P.) nor as "Jenny's] [Jeany's?", heels were not
seen peering through the dash board like the [pens?] through
the storm ports of a frigate at any period of the drive, the
Vice by a large portion of nonsense, and a sprinkling
of fiction, has done his best to fill the pages of the
Club's report book appointed to him - .
