General as usual, our most staunch supporter was
early at the meeting place. The irrascible Philip and [Lupus?] were
there, their sleighs filled with beauty and fashions
our facetious friend the Sherrif as a matter of course
and a few others. One thing the vice regrets extremely,
that some ladies who make their appearance on
every day's drive, on this occasion had been neglected
and left at home - whose fault was this? The vice
pleads "not guilty" for he up till the eleventh hour having
done his best to adorn his sleigh, alas! proved
unsuccessful. Our president "the Knight of the Snow
white plume" having given [law?] enough, for all
those [?] who thought of coming, [strikethrough] [to ? themselves?] [/strikethrough]
after twice making the circuit of the Artillery Square,
led us away at a good round [pace?] down
Barrack Street, and across the ice to the Dockyard
leaving the wigwam of the Mohawk on our
left, (but by the bye where is the said Mohawk?
he used to make his appearance in our ranks
