Friday 18 Jan 1895
A cold freezing morning
preceded a frozen night. Not
much wind, dark clouds lying
off Southward, dark blue. A cloudy
sky. Wells Sr gone to the school house
with a market basket of tools to work at
his cash job, didn't get through till 4 O'clock.
Voltie and Mart sawed the maple logs for
stove wood. Wellie here to dinner. Voltie carried
W.G. Woodman's letter to Geo Niles chosen
friends meet this eve at G.W.W.'s. Will
canvassing the foot of Island for apples trees & taters.
Charlie Dixon came and brought me pies.

freezing hard. Wind West. Voltie
bushed a road across the river just
forming & the house came back
after dark. Will went to Carlton Island
and the Bay for oil. Rachel came
home with ]]Grandmother Dixon]] here
came last Wednesday. Rachel ate
supper here then Will came and
he went over home with him.
