Friday 9 March 1894
Another quiet
still warm day, cloudy & hazzy [sic]. Wells,
Welly, Will and Voltie and Mart are tearing
of [sic] the old shingles from the roof. The
ground around the house covered with
falling shingles and now they are
nailing on the new ones. Grace gone
to Bills to help. Laura, Eveline and
Muriel & Robert there too. Then Lill Niles
came and brought me a dozzen [sic] of
new laid eggs and some apples
& some wool pieces for my log cabin quilt
with which I am very much pleased
and away she goes to Laura's too. Well
I am sure now Laura will get well
with so much help.
This morning George Niles walked
with Sadie across the river, says
the ice is very poor and with difficulty
picked their way across. Wells says
this weather knocks him entirely out.
Well Grace and Lill came just at dark.
So Voltie goes home with Lill and
stays till 10 O'clock PM. V says
Morgans young folks were there ie George,
Mabel and Kemp. The fire dead in
the coal stove. Wells is trying to arouse
to life, shook the very life out of
