Grace scrubed the stairs and scoured the
Boy's room clean. Wells working away
out in the shop. In the eve Grace &
Martin went for the mail. A letter for
Wells from Capt Fitsmons saying Wells must
go to Detroit next Wednesday. Grace rec'd a
letter from Miss Strachan saying, Yes—she
would give her music lessons. I piece for
a quilt got 20 blocks finnished [sic].
Saturday 24th March 1894
A cool cloudy day, wind South some
ice still floating in the river. Wells
gone again over the river to see about
the Lindy place. Voltie & Mart are plowing
down by Wellies. I make beds, sweep and
churn, not a speck of snow anywhere.
Grace moping floors and helped get
dinner. Wells came towards eve came over
with Rattray's and Wellington Burnham.
I dont think he had very good success
about his business—seems very quiet
and subdued about something.
Evening sets in cold and cloudy.
