27 September Thursday 1894

A fine morning. Voltie threshing
for McDonald. Wellie drove to factory
and after breakfast Eveline picked up all
things preserving pots, cans and jars & bottles
and Voltie drove down home with her & the
children, leaving Maud and I here alone.
Well tis somewhat lonesome but very peaceful
and quiet. I fly around Maud & I and get
things well in order. Wells come up and fed hogs at
noon. Grace came home long after dark driving the
home alone. Wellie stoped at home. Well I'm glad to
see her but a great mind to thresh her for staying away so long.

28 September Friday
Well Grace was up
early this morning 5 Oclock which is quite
contrary to city rules, 7 Oclock being early rising
for city people. Well after breakfast and
the work all done, Grace, Maud and went
down to Marts garden and gathered apples,
citrons, cucumbers & I came back tired enough
and canned some tomatoes. Voltie away
threshing for McDonel Bill. I paired [sic] apples
for drying nearly all day. Towards afternoon
Maud & I go and gather a basket of
wild grapes.
