A dismal cloudy day ground
white with snow this morning. Wind
N. snow falling fast towards night
Will here But not very well, played
on V's violin. Welly came up from
Alf's stayed and till after dark, got
milk for babe and went back down to Alf's.
John and Wells drew hay from old
barn. Volty went to Smiths to see about
his umbrella but didnt have it. Grace
moped [sic: mopped] floors. rather cold ice
broke clear from either shore and
drifting down in one great sheet,
got lodged fast down below here and
froze in. Wallace Niles here to borrow
powder to shoot a squiril [sic: squirrel]
