Sunday 17 Jan 1897
looks like rain or snow,
wind rising and blowing like
a harricane ripping up the
ice in the old St Lawrence tearring
it open from shore to shore, driving
it on shore and piling it up and
stacking it high and dry on Linda's Island.
Whew what a storm.
Well old winter we stole a march
on the ice bound river while it
did last and got the Dr and two
loads of wood and some groceries,
so roll and tumble and clash
your ice in pieces and churn and
powder it up. The girls and boys have
had lots of fun while the ice lasted.
Jim Morgan made us an evening
visit.
