My dearest wee Mother
The first day of Susie's Bazaar earned £800, which is very good. They will easily get the £1000 they set before [?]. I went about 5 & it was a very pretty sight. I never saw such a collection of beautiful young women. Alice did very well in presenting the bouquet but forgot to curtsey; she was hugged & kissed by old Princess Christian. John Splendid toddled about sneering at the whole concern. Susie was dog-tired last night. Marnie has brought back a German friend with her who can't speak

a word of English.
I have a session meeting this evening at St Columba's. Our delegate arrives on Friday. The children will probably go to St Abbs about next Sunday, & Susie & I will come to Scotland on the Friday. How does the servant problem get on?
I hope you & Nan are feeling the better for your holiday. To-day London is pandemonium with Poincaré's visit, & the streets are full of girls selling paper roses for Alexandra Day.
Much love to all
Your affectionate son
John
