My Dear Buchan,

I hope you will accept this
copy of my "Beowulf." Needless to say, it
is not what it should be in many places,
but I could do no better at the time.
Jack and Grierson both think well of my
way of doing it, and Gordon Bottomley
is quite enthusiastic. At some odd moment
you may like to dig into it, and rejoice to see the kind of man you care for
held up to our admiration.

I see by the newspapers you have been
spending many strenuous days in the West and
South, and addressing bumper meetings.

My kind regards to Mrs. Buchan & yourself,

Yours sincerely,

D. H. Crawford.

P.S. If at any time you shd.
want to see my rendering of "Maldon",
please let me know.
