Dear Lady Tweedsmuir,
It was a great privilege, as well as a delight and refreshment, to stay at Government House and I do greatly appreciate your kindness in entertaining me. This is not just a formal 'Thank you'.
Since leaving Ottawa I have stopped at Fredericton and Saint John and am now at my last halt. At Fredericton I met two men who, each in their way, made a

most favourable impression on me - Archbishop Richardson and Mr Dysart, Premier of New Brunswick. The Archbishop, who came out from England as a boy, is a real thinker and, I imagine, a wise statesman in his own field. Mr Dysart earned merit in my eyes by spending an entire evening with the small Fredericton Study Group on international affairs and contributing helpfully to the discussion. One of his dearest ambitions is to take his Excellency salmon-fishing in the Restigouche. May it be gratified!

another personal matter. I bring it up because I know it is possible that you are looking for efficient secretaries and such like at the centre. There is a young woman in Fredericton of unusual capacity and personality who is simply rusting in that little community. She is the only daughter of General Hill, a Vimy veteran who is living there on his pension. We were struck by her on our visit there two years ago.

Since then she has been in Toronto with a commercial firm, but returned because the work was uncongenial and is now acting as private secretary to the Archbishop. She is a fully trained secretary but in addition to that has the something - personality, insight, sympathy, what you will - which, in favourable circumstances, might enable her to render very valuable service. Neither she nor her parents know that I am writing this to you about her or indeed doing anything at all, but I don't like to see good quality run to waste. Her address is:
