All the Bursaries were awarded after a careful examination of all the candidates who presented themselves; the Students of each year being examined separately. Those who had the highest places in order of merit were First Year. Mr. H. McPherson. Second do Mr J. H. MeKerras. Third. do Mr Jas. McLennan. Closed with prayer. George Romanes Secretary.

Queen's College, Kingston 15th January 1849. The Senatus met and was constituted with prayer by the Principal. Present Rev. Dr Machar and Prof. Williamson and Romanes.

The Senatus took up the case of John McLennan and Thomas G. Smith, who were reported to have been guilty of improper conduct at evening prayers in the College. Several of the Students who were present on the occasion were called in and examined; and their

evidence having been taken down in writing, the accused parties heard it read, and were asked whether they admitted the truth of the charges; whereupon they admitted some of the things alleged to be true, but denied others. It was agreed that only those things which were fully admitted by themselves should be held as proved; and the Secretary was directed to record them in a paper to be kept [underline] in retentis [/underline]

The Senatus then resolved to defer consideration of the case until the 18th inst. Closed with prayer   George Romanes Secretary.

The Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. The Senatus then took up the case of Js. McLennan and T. G. Smith; and after mature deliberation, resolved, that the Principal be requested to convene the Students

tomorrow, and intimate to them that two of their number had been found guilty, on their own confession, of indecent and profane conduct at prayers; and thereafter to admonish the two guilty persons, informing them that while the Senatus Academicus had felt that tbhey might justly have deprived them of their bursaries, they had resolved to limit themselves to sending a communication respecting their offense to their Ministers.

The Minutes of last meeting were read and approved of. Agreeably to the resolution adopted at last meeting, the Students were assembled. The Principal stated to them the occasion of this meeting, and intimated the resolutions come to in reference to the misconduct of two of their number; and thereafter suitably

admonished them and all the Students in regard to the importance of maintaining strict propriety of conduct. Closed with prayer George Romanes Secy.

The Secretary intimated that he had received a letter from the Rev. W. Bain , Perth; enclosing £10. being a donation from the "Presbytery of Bathurst Missionary Association," to be applied by the Senatus as a Bursary to some deserving Student; and intimating their wish that it might ber given to Mr. D, Morrison, a Student belonging to that Presbytery.

The Senatus agreed to express their high satisfaction at receiving this proof [of] the liberality of the Association. It was resolved that as Mr Morrison had already been appointed to a Bursary, namely one half of that granted by the Edinburgh University Missionary Association

and as intimation of this had been sent to Edinburgh, the Senatus could not, with propriety alter the existing arrangement; but that they would grant to Mr Morrison such a portion of the Bathurst bursary as would make up the whole sum to £10. In respect to the remainder of the bursary from Bathurst, it was resolved that £2.10. be given to Mr John McLennan, whose present bursary is very small; and that the balance be retained in the hands of the Secretary until the Senatus be enabled to dispose of it suitably.

The Principal intimated that he had received the Bursary from the Edinburgh University Missionary Association, viz. an order on Bank of England for £12, Sg, proceeds of which, £14:17:4 currency. The Principal was instructed to ackowledge receipt of the same. Closed with prayer George Romanes Secretary.
