The Senate was constituted by a solemn prayer
to God for a blessing on the Institution by the
Principal. The Reverend Professor Campbell was appointed
Secretary.

The Principal in the name and on behalf of
the Senate informed the Candidates for admission
to the University that an Examination would
immediately take place for the purpose of ascertaining
who among the Candidates were fit to be
Matriculated, and in what classes they ought
to be ranked.

The following applicants then presented themselves
for examination and having been examined
were ranked in the order in which their
names stand viz.

1 Georgius Bell on the ground of a certificate
fom the Presbytery of Bathurst was admitted
as a Student in Divinity of the second
year.

2 Joannes McKinnon as a student of the third
year’s Class in Arts.

3 Thomas Wardrope as a student of the third
year’s Class in Arts.
