Professor Mowat intimated that he
had gone to Newburgh Grammar School[,]
that no candidate had appeared for the
Campbell Scholarship, and that the Scholarship
was thus left at the disposal of
the Senate to be given by them to the best
Freshman of the year,. — a notice of this
Scholarship's being open to Competition to be
put up on the BlackBoard. The Secretary
was instructed to acknowledge the handsome
donation of valuable Astronomical
works to the Library for the use of the
Observatory from J.J. Burrows Esqu.
The Secretary was likewise instructed to acknowledge
donation of transactions for 18-0-6
from the National Association for the
promotion of social science, and to send the
Secretary of said association a Calendar
of the University for the Current Year.

The Secretary was instructed to insert in
the Daily Papers of the City a short
advertisement of the opening of the College
the advertisement to be in the following terms:

University of Queen's College
Faculty First Session of the University of
Queen's College will be formally opened
on Wednesday 1st October, when an Introductory
Address will be delivered by the Revd. Professor
Williamson M.A. Ll.D. in the University
[margin]Convocation[/margin] Hall at 3 O'Clock P.M.

Thereafter an address will be delivered to the
Medical Students by R. Kennedy M.D.
L.R.C.S.E. Professor of Anatomy.

The public are invited to attend.
