Dr. Dickson moved that in view of
the present public movement in Kingston
on behalf of Dr. Stewart, who has been convicted
of [underscore]libel[/underscore] and is now living in the public
jail, the Senate direct their Secretary to
forward this day a Memorial to the Governor
General, praying His Excellency to delay
his decision, until careful enquiry has been
made into the whole particulars of the case.
The motion was seconded by Dr. Lavell and
unanimously agreed to.

Which day the Senate met and was duly
constituted by the Chairman Pro tem: Dr.
Williamson.

Sederunt Dr. Williamson Chariman Pro tempore
Professors Mowat, Lawson and Murray.

The minutes of former meeting were read
and approved of.

Mr. James Shier was examined on Mathematics,
Natural Philosophy, Mental and
Moral Philosophy and Logic, having previously
been examined on Classics.
The Senate expressed their satisfaction
with Mr. Shier's attainments in these branches
and agreed to confer on him the degree of
B.A.

Mr. George Lunn was examined on
Classics, Mathematics, Mental and Moral
Philosophy and Logic.
