The Senatus met and was constituted.

Sederunt the Principal, Professors Williamson,
Murray, Bell, and Mowat, and
Rev. J.H. McKerras Interim Professor of Classics.

The minutes of last meeting were read and approved.

Ottawa prize Essay
[/margin]

The Principal announced a prize of the
value of $40 from certain friends at Ottawa
for an Essay to be open to all students in
Arts for session 1865-6. The Senatus agreed the
denominate the prize the Ottawa prize.

Rev. J McMorine to
be recommended D.D.
[/margin]

The Senatus agreed to recommend the Senate
to confer the degree of Doctor of Divinity upon
the Rev. John McMorine of Ramsay, and in consideration
of his valuable services to the Church and
of his long connection with the Board of Trustees resolved
to dispense in his case with the usual fee.

Rev. J.B. Muir & 9 3d year
students recommended
for B.A.

On a review of their written papers the Senatus
agreed to declare that the University Examination
for the degree of B.A. had been passed by Rev.
James B. Muir, and the following students of the
third year: James Fraser, Quebec; with 2d class honours
in Classics and Metaphysics; George Malloch,
Ottawa; John McAlister, Kingston; Alexander G.
McBean, Lancaster, with 1st class honours in Classics
and History, and 2d class honours in Natural
Philosophy; Donald McKay, Kingston, with 2d
class
