on honorary degrees - to report as soon
as convenient.

from the students in reference to the
sentence passed on the 16th inst. on Messrs.
McDowell and White, and after consideration
the final disposal of it was
deferred.

Queen's University March 1st 1875

The Senate met and was constituted.

Sederunt Principal Snodgrass, Professors
Williamson, Mowat, Dupuis, Ferguson,
Watson, and Rev. D. Ross, acting
Professor of Classics.

desertion of
students on 16th inst.
[/margin]

The Principal called the attention of the
Senate to the fact that a large majority of
the Arts students absented themselves from
their classes on Friday without any notice or
explanation, and that he expected that a
deputation of their number would seek an
interview with the Senate today. In the course
of the sederunt the deputation appeared
and stated that they were instructed by
the students to enquire if it is the intention
of the Senate to answer their petition.
The deputation having been asked to retire
the following minute was unanimously
agreed to: That the Senate did
after long and careful deliberation, unanimously
