with the Trustees of the University, and adopt the proper
means to secure the necessary financial aid for the
purposes of the University, with the understanding, that
should it be found advisable for the Church to retain
the University, with a quarantine of adequate maintenance,
the Commission should refer the question to the
Presbyteries of the three central synods, before taking
final action."

Whereupon, it was agreed, that having heard the Resolution
of the General Assembly assent the proposed changes
in the Charter of the University, and also the Principal's
report on the same, this Board stays proceedings
in Parliament, and await the Conference with the
Commission of Assembly at the earliest date found
most convenient. Accordingly the Board invited the
Commission to meet in the Convocation Hall of the University
sometime in September.

At the evening session of the Board it was informed
that Professor John Macnaugton had accepted the
Chair of Greek in McGill University, and asked
that his resignation be accepted. The Board, in
granting his request, expressed its deep regret that
the University was losing the services of so likeable
a man and so brilliant a scholar. Immediate
steps were taken to fill the vacancy. And it was
resolved (1) to offer the Greek Chair to Prof. Glover,
