who was in England, asking him to answer by cable.
(2) To inform Professor Watson, who was overseas, that this
offer was made, and to ask him in the event of
Professor Glover declining, to make enquires regarding
a suitable person, and to have an advertisement
inserted in the Atheneum and the Academy.
(3) To leave the matter to be further dealt with by the
Principal and the local Trustees.

As foreshadowed at the meeting of June 30th, the
Board was summoned by the Chairman for September 15th
and met accordingly in the usual place, the Chancellor
in the absence of the Chairman, presiding. A few
items of general business having been attended to,
adjournment followed to allow the Board to join
in Conference with the Commission of the General
Assembly meeting the same day in Convocation Hall.
The following day, the Board reconstituted by itself,
the Principal read the following resolution of
the Conference:

"That the Conference recognise the desirability of
continuing the connection between Queens University
and the Church, and of preserving the broad,
liberal, Christian spirit of the Institution unimpaired,
it was resolved that the Conference rise and report
this resolution to the Commission of Assembly and
the Board of Trustees of the University, to meet again
