The need of additions to the Teaching Stadd of the Medical
Faculty was pressing, and the Dean was heard on the
subject. Student attendance was growing from session
to session and so calling for the appointment of mere
instructors, and for extended equipment. The Faculty
must keep pace with the rapid development of
medical science and education. The work done by the
whole-time men in the primary scientific subjects
Pathology Physiology and Bacteriology was most successful
and popular with the students and while whole-time
instructors were required in other departments,
such as Anatomy. It would be well to look upon this
Faculty as a faculty of the University its interests as
identical with those of the University and its support
from fees and other sources of revenue determines
on a fairly proportionate basis

The finance and Estates Committee was requested to
give the suggestions of Dean Connell due consideration
and report its judgement of the Board the Committee reported on the
memorandum of the Dean. As far as the financial
condition of the University permitted his request
was complied with: that a Tutor be appointed in
Botany to assist Professor Kowler; that a grant be
made for full-time instructors in Anatomy part of
