from the general-expense account of the Medical Faculty.
As conditions allowed, attention would be given to more
whole-time instruction.
In the room of the late Wm. J. B. McIver, Mr Geo. Y. Chown, B. A.,
was appointed Secretary-Treasurer of the Board at a
salary of $900.00 per annum, and the Finance and
Estates Committee was instructed to draw up rules and
regulations for the guidance of the Secretary-Treasurer
as to his work.
Thanks were given to the Chancellor, from the first a
generous friend of the University, for a profitable gift
of mining land in Alberta. Provision was made for
permanent instruction in Elocution in the Faculties of
Arts and Theology, and steps were taken to build a
vault in the Old Arts Building for the accommodation
and security of College business, and valuable record, and
other documents. In the course of the session, Prof. Jordan
was laid off work with illness to the regreat of the Board
and Staff. A trip was recommended to the Old Land,
provision made for his comfort, and, as far as might be, to
carry on his work in the class-room during his absence.
His friends were delighted to learn that the change
and rest during the spring and summer were restoring
his health and strength, and that he would be able to
resume work next session.
