Professor Murray, Professor of Logic and Mental and
Moral Philosophy, having resigned office at the close of
last Session and accepted a similar Chair in the McGill
University, Mr John Watson, Master of Arts of the University
of Glasgow, of whose high qualifications the Trustees were
well assured, was appointed in his stead, and entered on his
duties in the beginning of this Session.

On 5th June 1873, a Committee appointed to obtain
the assistance of two Lecturers in Theology for the Session 1873-74
reported that the Revd. Dr. Bell an the Revd. Dr. Jenkins, had
promised to give their services in that capacity, and that steps were
in progress for raising the funds to defray the necessary
expenses of these gentlemen. The Trustees approved of the
