when the outlook was a gloomy one for the future
of Queen's. It was with general satisfaction that
these portraits were placed on the walls of Convocation
Hall.

Two important bequests were received
during this winter from old friends of the University,
one of $5000 from the late David Greenshields of
Montreal and one of $4000 from the late James Michie
of Toronto.

The Senate become cognisant of t
he fact, that although there was not in Queen's
College a Faculty of Medicine, it had the right to
appoint a member of the Faculty from an affiliated
College, now appointed Fife Fowler M.D. Prsident
of the R.C.P.S to be a Governor of the Kingston
General Hospital.

Many additions were
made during this year both to the Museum and
Library, and appropriations were made for improvements
and additions in both quarters. The
salary of Rev. Dr. Bell the Registrar and Librarian, was increased
to $600 and much satisfaction was expressed at the
improved condition of the Library under his management.
The salary of the Secretary was also increased
to $600. The Rev. H.G. Parker
had been temporarily appointed Watkins
