The number of students during the session of 1889-90 was as follows

The Board of Trustees met by appointment on September
24th to consider the advisability of further additions to the
Teaching Staff of Queen's. The Committee previously
appointed to consider this subject presented the following
report:-

The Committee was appointed (1) to enquire
whether Dr. Dyde, Professor of Philosophy and Political
Economy in the University of Fredericton N.B., would
accept a Chair of Mental Philosophy in Queen's at a salary
of $1200. a year, (2) to enquire if a specially eligible man
could be had for a chair of Greek, should the Trustees decide
to divide the Classical Chair. It was the desire of
the Board that the Prinipal should correspond with Dr.
Dyde, and that Row Mer Barclay should enquire when in
Britain about the best Oxford and Cambridge men available
for the proposed Greek Chair. The Principal corresponded
with Dr Dyde, and he intimated his willingness to
accept the position suggested, and in order to permit the
authorities of New Brunswick University to make other
arrangements he resigned his Chair in that
