From Alfred [Denison?] [Esq?] Private Secretary [of?]
the Governor General of New South Wales

Sir
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter
of the 30th ult. enclosing copies of papers having
reference to your services as a Government officer
during the last nine years and requesting me to
lay the same before the Governor General I have
according to your request submitted them to His

inform you that His excellency is fully aware
of the Zeal & Fidelity which you have ever
displayed in the service of the Govt & that
it is a source of regret to him that the regulations
of the service prevent any recognition of them
other than the compensation of one months pay
for every year of service.

Should however an opportunity arise
enabling the Governor General to further your
views I am directed by his Excellency to assure
you, it will give him pleasure to do so

I have the honor
to be Sir
Your most Obedt Servt
