Urging immediate necessity for erection of a Lockup
at South Brisbane

Sir

At various periods during
the past four Years the questions of
lock ups on the South side of the
River have been before your Department
and promise given that the want would
be supplied , but up to the present time
we are as far off as ever , it is true it
is the intention of the Goverment to
at once commence with the erection
of a Court House in Grey Street , which
will partially suppply the need , that
is if it is the intention of the Govern-
ment to Provide for a lockup in
the proposed building.

I would earnestly urge upon
you the immediate necessity that exists
for the erection of a lockup in the
vicinity of the "5 Ways" this place
is becoming thickly populated and
without the lockup it is impossible
for the Police to carry out their duties
with any degree of satisfactions , as
pointed out in previous correspon-
dence on this question , that at
