11th June, 1957.

The Superintendent,
Cherbourg Settlement,
via MURGON.

The Brisbane City Council intends to name a street "Taninbla"
but before doing so desires to know the aboriginal meaning of this word.

There are also two spellings to the word "Kurilpa", the
other way being "Karilpa" and as this is said to be an aboriginal word the
Council would appreciate advice indicating the correct spelling.

Kindly interview some of the Cherbourg natives and reply
by return mail.

Director of Native Affairs

1 KURILPA is correct spelling means (I am going)
2 TANINBLA means (Standing with it)
3 If spelt Ganilba means (Taking it Home).
