TOOWOOMBA.

The Deputy of Native Affairs has
referred to me your communication of the 13th August inquiring
as to the aboriginal meaning of the word "Weranga".

According to the natives here the word means "Bad Man".

I have also ascertained, in case you are
interested, that another aboriginal word for "Bad Man" is
"Goonkee".

I trust this information will prove
helpful to you.

Deputy Director of Native Affairs,
BRISBANE.
Superintendent.
Copy for your information. Your Ref. 1A/230 of the
20th instant.

Superintendent.
