A request has been received for the meaning of the native word BIMBIMBIE. The person enquiring has recently bought a small property bearing this name at Kenmore.

Any information you could offer regarding this name would be appreciated.

Further yours dated 20th November, 1963, reference 1A/230, re meaning of work "Cookara", you are advised that from information available here:

"Coo" means River "Kara" means High up

therefore the word could mean "River high up.".

Your letter received with regards to enquiries to native meaning of particular words, unfortunately some of these cannot be obtained, but for your information listed hereunder are the ones we have been able to find out.

Kin Kin - Small Water Hole Coondoo - Bark Humpy Boreen - Fire Place

Cherbourg -originally this Settlement was called Barambah the meaning of which is Wind.

To the best of aboriginal knowledge Cherbourg is not an aboriginal name.
