I have the honor to transmit to you herewith copy
of a letter addressed to the Port Master of this
Colony ^ Lieut: G. P. Heath R.N. by the Government Pilot at Port Hinchin:-
brook ^ in Rockingham Bay respecting the importation & treatment of
certain South Sea Islanders by the Beche -de. Mer
traders on the north eastern coast of
As you are about to visit that part of the the Station
in H.M.S. "Virago", it appears to me desirable that you should
make inquiry into the truth of the allegations contained
in this letter.
At the same time, I transmit a copy of a
minute of the Executive Council of Queensland
respecting the conveyance of certain passengers & stores
on public service
to Somerset. I request you to
carry out as far as you may be able the wishes of
my responsible advices.
