Isaac Mayfield served in the 107th Co. C USCT infantry. He enrolled 18 July 1864 and was admitted to the hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina on 3 June 1865. Although he had Camp Diarrhea, there was no diagnosis given and he was discharged from service 19 June 1865. Shortly after returning home, he died 2 July 1865. He was suffering from diarrhea, night sweats, and fever. He married Zerilda 31 May 1846. They had five living children under the age of sixteen, John, Mary, James, Belle, and Sallie. They were both enslaved by Gideon and Elizabeth Mayfield.
