In reference to your telegram
of today "asking what waters in
Ontario I would propose placing
carp; and what waters in Manitoba
are suitable." I beg to state that
I am not aware of any specific
proposition having been made by
me to place carp in the water of Ontario.
I have however incidentally made
mention in some of my reports and
in letters also, to your Dept that the Carp
might with propriety be bred by your
Department with the view to satisfying
numerous applications which have
been made by individuals, who
are under the impression that these
fish would be adapted to the small
ponds owned by them; and also for
streams running through the Country.
The applicants however have generally
held erroneous views as to the natural
requirements suitable to make the
growth of Carp a reasonable under-
