Regarding White fish
inhabiting the water of British Columbia
I may here state that, Mr Mowat wrote
me a short time ago, thus “I made
“the discovery the other day that, White-
“fish and Spec-Trout abound in [?]
“your large interior Lakes. I have
“Eaten the White-fish, and find
“them quite as good as the Eastern
“White-fish, and I am satisfied
“there will be an important trade
“in them in a few years.”

This is an important
discovery if found to be correct,
and I do not see why it may
not be probable that, if Lakes of
any magnitude are found in
B.C., why White-fish may not
inhabit them: - I cannot say
however that, Mr Mowat may
be fully up to the knowledge

were adapted to catch them.

May I enquire how this
river was utilised last year –
whether it was kept as a closed
stream or whether it was fished
to death by Anglers as would be
the case if they had their full
swing at it – Poor Mary Bradford
when living protected this stream
fully and she used to get quite
