Made arrangements with one sailor start work on Monday 6 at the rate 8 £ eight pounds per month & one pound extra per trip for working overtime advance 2/6 & put his clothes in cabin to take care same.

Boy started at six pounds per month. 9.30 am very little work to do. Paid cartage 9 shillings.

Awaiting crew. Florrie shifted Portonian to Darling Wharf.

Engage hands to start work at 5 pm. Wages 7 pounds per month 1 one pound extra. Cash lent to one 3/6 for cigarettes.
10 Friday
Bar at 8 am 30-20. 9 am Florrie towed to sea from the wharf. Light south & variables sea smooth. Two hands started to work. Paid fruit vegetables 2/3. 6 pm Bar 30-10. Bar 30-10.
11 Saturday
Absent port [illegible text] all day & light calm & variables. Passed Stansbury 2 pm tacking all day & light. 8 pm reefe mizzen & took in jib. Fresh SSE to SSW. Bar 30-60.
12 Sunday
6 am Bar 30-00. 4 am tacked near Edithburgh. Passed Troubridge 9am. Light south. Bar 30-05. Tacked near Yankalilla. Reefe mizzen & jib. Made several tacks.
