lating this ordinance shall pay, upon conviction, a fine

ceeding thirty days.

TELEPHONE.
That on and after the passage of this ordinance The
Home Telephone Company, of Greenville, S. C., shall
have power to construct, erect, maintain and operate a
telephon exchange within the limits of the said city of
Greenville, and for the purpose of erecting and maintain-
ing said exchange they shall have power to erect poles
and place wires thereon in any and all of the said streets
and ways of the said city of Greenville, together with
such other useful apparatus as they may find necessary
for the safe and profitable operation of said telephone
exchange. Said poles and wires to be use of said
streets, and for the term of twenty-five years from date
of same, erected and planned according to directions of
the Street Committee, and subject to all the rules and
ordinances now in force.

VACCINATION
AN ORDINANCE to Enforce Vaccination.
SEC. 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person in the
City of Greenville to resist vaccination by any physician
authorized and employed by said city.
SEC. 2. Any person so making resistance shall, upon
conviction, be fined not less than five nor more than
twenty-five dollars, or be imprisoned not less than ten
nor more than thirty days by the Mayor or Acting Mayor.
SEC. 3. That this ordinance shall go into effect imme-
diately upon its passage.
Ratified the 8th day of January, 1898.
