AN ORDINANCE Prohibiting Theft within the Incor-
porate Limits of the City.

SEC. 1. That from and after the passage of this ordi-
nance it shall be unlawful for any person or persons
within the incorporate limits of the city of Greenville
to steal, take and carry away any goods or property of
another being within the incorporate limits of said city
with intent to unlawfully convert the same to his, her or
their own use.

SEC. 2. Any person or persons violating the provisions
of this ordinance, upon conviction, shall be liable to a
fine not exceeding fifty dollars, or imprisonment not ex-
ceeding thirty days, or both, at the discretion of the
Mayor.

AN ORDINANCE to Require all Persons Putting up
Barbed Wire Fences to Place a Plank on the Top of
the Fence.

SEC. 1. That on and after the passage of this Ordi-
nance all persons who shall build or put up a barbed wire
fence along any of the streets, lanes or sidewalks of this
city, shall place on the outside of said fence, near the
top, a plank not less than four inches in width, the same
to be whitewashed or painted white.

SEC. 2. Any person failing to comply with the require-
ments of this Ordinance shall, upon being found guilty,
be subject to a fine of not more than five dollars per day
for each day that said barbed wire fence is allowed to
stand without said plank being placed on the same.
