"IF"

If we could only persuade each reader of this letter to remove all the "ifs" from his mind and give to the Phillis Wheatley a contribution for its 13th Anniversary, the next letter would bring the good news that the mortgage is all paid.

We are very grateful to God and to the many friends who

have stood by us all these years and brought us thus well along. Many, many persons say we have done remarkably well. This being true, won't you help us out, while our ship sails on towards its destination? We want to wipe out the mortgage this year. We want to pour out our souls and devote our time to organizing, training and encouraging the children and young people of our race. For thirteen years Phillis Wheatley has been burdened with mortgage. This should be paid in order that money and time could then be spent on character building. We have faith in the people who have had contact with the Phillis Wheatley Center; we have faith in the wonderful people who are helping us with the drive; we have faith in God. We are going to win. The drive closes December 12, 1937.

Phillis Wheatley has so much to be thankful for to have friends like those who have helped us in the past and those who are on the campaign committee this year, also those who have contributed--and will continue to contribute.

HOW YOU CAN HELP MAKE THE DRIVE SUCCESSFUL The campaign committee is expecting those who have donated liberally in the past to continue supporting the movement to free Phillis Wheatley of debt. It is also hoping that new friends who are willing to assume a share of community responsibility will be found. Do not wait until you are called on for a definite service or contribution. Find some member of the campaign committee and offer whatever assistance you are prepared to give.

Remember Phillis Wheatley is Yours. Its ability to serve depends on you.
